Finding your idea

Finding a new idea is one of the difficult and most crucial tasks for building a new website, as the whole process depends on it.

The most important thing is to start, the idea might evolve along the way as many founders stated when they told their story, many started with an idea and they got more focused as they moved on.

What you use for yourself might give you a good indication that other users might use it too. However you might feel passionate about a new idea and start thinking how people were living all these centuries with out it and turns on that people do not need that’s why they do not use it.

Don’t be sad when you start searching on the internet and find out what you thought it will be the next google its already there and has thousand and may be millions of users but you never heard of that website.

A good idea can be with some tweaking and little addon be a great idea, take an example of hotmail and gmail, now gmail with its big storage and easy interface getting all the attention, although gmail came much later.

You will be amazed of how humans think alike and have common ideas, I once wanted to buy a domain name with a two word phrase and a dot com extension, I looked it up one day and it was available to buy, after one week of thinking I decided to buy it, ooops not available anymore, remember you are competing with the world and not your neighborhood bookstores.

Some tricks to add spices to already formed ideas on the web:

· Make a local version of any international successful site, example make the idea with you language not English as most sites are.

· Add more options, example hotmail, and gmail

· Make it more user friendly, think of the success facebook

· Try to transfer any application that you use offline to be online if it doesn’t find users these days probably the next year it might be a hit.

· If social networks were the hype of the internet in the past few years, example: facebook, myspace etc.. well the specialized social networks are the next big thing, there will be a social network for every group on earth, example: there will be a social network for white dogs living in Egypt lovers etc..I mean there will be anything. And this is due to the theory of the long tail, which entails that due to democratization of production and distribution i.e. ease of production and distribution , like the open source content management system example : drupal, joomla etc..more and more people will be able to produce website and deliver their ideas on the net without the need of professionals and this will open new markets.

· Take a pen and write down the areas of your interest and the career you know best, think if you can build a network around these ideas.
